All I Want for Christmas…

It’s getting to be that time of year again. There’s a chill in the air (or not, if you happen to be in New York City right now). Stores are being decorated, and those annoying guys with bells are asking for money on every street corner. Santa’s making his list, and so am I.

I’ve been lucky this year, and derby-owned stores like Five Stride and Fast Girl keep me well-stocked with skates and pads, but there’s one special thing I can’t find. Last year, I got hit hard and belly-flopped onto my pointy hip bone, causing a bone bruise which is still painful today if I take a direct hit. I’ve looked and looked for the perfect pads or padded shorts that just pad my hip bones, but everything’s either too padded all over (hot! bulky!) or just barely lined (quilted?) which doesn’t help absorb the impact. I sewed a set of pads into a set of leggings, but after a hard season of use, those have disintegrated. I need something to protect my hipbones next season, and I’m at a loss. I’m hoping Santa has better luck finding a hipbone protector than I have. Or maybe you know where I could find such a thing?

If he TRULY can’t find such miraculous gear, the next thing on my list is Axle Adams’ incredible book. And if the book is sold out by the time Santa’s doing his shopping, I’d be thrilled with a Pivot Star hoodie. In purple.

How about you? Have you been good this year? What do you want for the holiday?
