A Personal Story
By Hurracane May
Hello I’m Hurracane May and I skate with the Arizona Derby Dames Jrs.
We attended Battle on the Bank 6 (June) in the first ever Jr. Tournament on the Banked track and our very first bout against other teams. We proudly got 4th place after taking on San Diego, The La Ri-Ettes and Orange County. Beating San Diego (65-97) put us up against La an very experienced team. We lost against La (151-43) so that put us up for 3rd which was against OCRG. We lost that game(135-82). It ended up as us just having a good time.
A month later I attended the LA Jr. Derby Dolls camp and took on the advanced level. I’ve meet so many new people and learned so many things from the trainers and some of the La girls that were there like Raebies a La Ri-ette and a San Fernando Vally player…
Derby is a sport where no one gets judged on their height or the weight or their race because is a sport everyone can play
