After saying goodbye to our kind hosts, the four of us piled up in Pixies Renault Twingo and off we were to Sweden! It was my turn to drive, and I really had to get used to Pixies car. For one, I couldn’t for the life of me get it started. Yes, you read that right, I couldn’t even start it. When I finally managed due to Pixies loving, ever patient instructions, I found I couldn’t get it in reverse. Yes, again I admit to my lack of skills.

In the second installment of The Road To RollerCon, Dumptruck shares some of the fun of his RC'11 experience with you, our beloved readers!

Little over a year ago, when I plunged into the world of derby, I had not expected it to be such a warm bath. But as my lucid dream (I dreamt I could skate like a star, without any former experience) was starting to become a very interesting reality (I could not skate to save my life, but I loved every minute of falling, stumbling, getting up and trying again), I found many a helpful hand from all over Europe.

Clutching my smallish purse—I’m heading to a party after the practice, and my skates cannot be shipped from America—I realize that this is the only time I’ve come to a derby practice without lugging a heavy duffel bag full of gear. No wonder I feel stupid.
