Thank y'all so much for all the support and love I've gotten from the derby community over the past week. It has been quite incredible.

I don't think my story is the most moving story, though. A good one, yes. And I got lucky in that it was well told. But there are soooo many moving stories in derby. Players getting injured and coming back. Women surmounting all sorts of odds to play.

Mine is just one of the sometimes-inspiring stories that makes derby the sport that we all love so much. And I wouldn't have a story without the rest of YOUR stories. So thank you.

I think for so many of us, part of what's powerful about the derby experience is how we've found acceptance for personal quirks small and large in this community, where elsewhere it's often been more difficult. There's something very powerful about your example of the quirk of derby finding similar acceptance in an environment many wouldn't expect.

That makes sense. The acceptance (and even embracing) of my congregation of me and of derby speaks to the desires and hopes of others that they might find something similar. Thanks, Hurt, reminding me of that.

The one thing that separates derby from the rest of the organized sports worldwide is the wide acceptance of everyone and everything no matter what background, lifestyle or beliefs.
