Meet Team England: Juicy Lucy

Name: Juicy Lucy

League Affiliation: London Rollergirls (formerly Auld Reekie Roller Girls)

Years Skating: I put quad skates on for the first time as an adult just over 3 years ago. This proved troublesome at first and I had to use a broom to stand up!

DL: What was your previous athletic background, if any?

JL: I liked PE at school and played a bit of girls football ("soccer"!). Although my main focus until derby was dancing. I love a bit of tap and jazz, but also: national, cheerleading, ballet, hip hop and obviously disco!

DL: Why did you want to be on Team England?

JL: I love playing derby and representing my country is just absolutely amazing! Also contrary to popular belief - I am not Scottish, my accent is Geordie so Team England is definitely where its at for me!

DL: Which skaters inspire you and why?

JL: I really like skaters that use fancy foot work as I think its great to watch as a fan. So people like Wild Cherri of Gotham or Snot Rocket Science of Steel.

DL: Do you have any advice for newer skaters?

JL: Go to every practice physically possible, even if you are knackered. Also watching derby is both fun and educational.
