2011 Photo Of The Year Contest!

With the advent of DerbyLife, a few things about some regular DNN and fiveonfive annual festivities have changed. Usually Photo Of The Year is a category in the DNN Readers Poll. This year, DerbyLife is hosting the Photo Of The Year competition, as well as the 2011 Photo Annual (a DNN/fiveonfive co-production), online.

Nominate your favorite photographer's shot (or your own) below, and please include a link to the photograph, and the photographer's name if possible. Nominations will be taken from today until December 25th, and then the poll will be posted December 26th. A winner will be declared January 2nd, 2011. The contest is restricted to photographs taken in the calendar year 2011. Multiple submissions per photographer are welcomed.

Along with the honor and the glory of being the photog who snapped the roller derby photo of the year, you will also be the recipient of an exciting new prize. The 2011 Photo Of The Year winner will receive a generous chunk of advertising on DNN and DerbyLife, to be used at the time of his or her choosing, for the project of his or her choosing, in 2012. (Think Axle Adams' book No Mercy, or Joe Rollerfan's roller derby calendar).

All nominations will be considered for the Photo Annual, selected by the editors of DNN, fiveonfive and DerbyLife, which will be hosted online here in January. There are so many talented photographers in our community, it's nice to recognize more than one in another format. We look forward to showcasing the best captured moments of the year in the Photo Annual.

While we have your attention, we could use your help. We have a giant spreadsheet of photographers who have granted us permission to use their work on our websites. However, we know there are dozens more of you who haven't given us your details. We'd love to use your work on DerbyLife and DNN.
