Excellent Derby Open Source Tool Is Updated!

In its early years, the growth of roller derby owed much of its success to throngs of committed volunteers all sharing their best tips, tricks and innovations with each other, freely. One of the greatest resources ever provided to the derby community by a volunteer is the Carolina Rollergirls scoreboard software. It was recently updated, more information here if you'd like to check it out.

The Chick Dastardly blog has a fantastic interview with it's creator, as well.

Thanks, Mr. Temper!

Comments

I've been hoping for a long time to get the opportunity to put this request out there. Mr. Temper is/was a highly devoted Carolina Rollergirls' (and flat track derby, WFTDA in general) volunteer, fan and derby widow for a very long time. He has retired from volunteering this year, but is still a big fan. If you have the time, please send him a thank you card for the creation of this great scoreboard! It's such a valuable tool to everyone and he's a freakin' genius, too!

Thanks so much!

If you've ever watched a DNN broadcast and been grateful that the score and time are overlaid on the video, there's a really good chance that Mr. Temper is who to thank -- about 80% of the time, this software has provided that overlay. We're intensely grateful that he's included that capability in his design, and that he has continued to develop and improve the software.
