Some amazing stuff! Derby is lucky to have all of you!

I think a lot of people may accidentally vote for the wrong photo by looking at the number at the bottom of the slide rather than the number at the bottom of the picture. I almost did.

I agree, I almost got it wrong too. Mods, can you remove the intro slide from each slideshow, so the numbers match up?

We specifically included a cover image so as not to give unfair advantage or exposure to any one image by having it appear first. Each photo is labeled with the number as well as the name of the photographer, and even if you get the number wrong, the photographer names don't change in the actual poll. I can't honestly think of a way to remove the cover image and make things fair. Can you?

If I hear from enough of the photogs represented that they don't care if someone else's image is the cover image, and receives more exposure, I guess we can change it. Maybe we've spent too may years tiptoeing around derby egos here on the internet? ;)

A simpler solution would be to change the numbers on the bottom of the photo so they match. That way each person is voting on 2-11, not 1-10.

This seems like a good idea. Hopefully everyone's paying enough attention to get it right, but I did wonder if this might be a problem when I first looked at this as well. Numbering them 2-11 seems like a good solution as there's really no way anyone could get confused by that.

Instead of messing with the poll itself, we removed the cover images. Numbers on the gallery now match the numbers on each photo.

Very flattered that my pic of Seaside Siren Truly Thumptious and son has been nominated. See it and more nearthecoast roller sport pix on Flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/nearthecoast/sets/72157627798679994/show/

Gotta say, within the "Most Derby" category. I think slide #7, photo 6 (the recycle tat) is a great portrait. These were hard to whittle down, I can only imagine how the pics were that didn't make it. Great job photogs!

agree

Now I'm not sure if I voted correctly, I associated the number in the slideshow with the number in the list. damn!

None of the winners won by just one vote.
